I hear this complaint a lot when I try to explain bitcoin. Silk Road, ransom ware attacks, so forth, but why does the currency exchanged during illegal activities matter. They say btc is for criminals, but isn't the usd the currency that's been involved in the most criminal activity through time?
Why is bitcoin to blame? Ransomware attacks and illegal market places involve the internet, should the internet be banned? Probably used a keyboard and a mouse should they go too? WTF. I don't understand

One is Silk Road founder Dread Pirate Roberts, who the FBI claim is currently in their custody. The other is Satoshi Nakamoto, the still-unidentified creator of Bitcoin. The creator of Silk Road, Ross Ulbricht (aka Dread Pirate Roberts) had challenged the legality of the bitcoin forfeiture. Silk Road was operated by "Dread Pirate Roberts" (named after the fictional character from The Princess Bride), who was known for espousing libertarian ideals and criticizing regulation. Initially, buyers could register for free, but there were a limited number of new seller accounts available; new sellers had to purchase an account via an auction.
